Baulkum Hills High, located at 419A Windsor Road, is an extremely high-achieving selective school, holding a place in the top ten achieving schools for the HSC for over 6 years – they came second in 2014, 2016 and 2017. For this reason it is extremely competitive to gain a place in this school – with the minimum entry score for the Selective Schools test being 230 out of 300, it is the third hardest school to gain entry into. They offer cadets as part of their school program and engage in the ‘trischool tournament’ in which they engage in a sports tournament with James Ruse Agricultural High and Giraween High (also selective schools).
The selective schools exam
To get into any of the 17 selective schools in NSW, your child will be required to sit the selective schools placement exam to determine their academic proficiency in three main areas: Maths, English and General ability. The marks from these components are combined with internal school marks to determine a score out of 300, which is assessed by individual schools to grant entry. As mentioned, Baulkum hills high school has the 3rd highest required minimum mark so entry to this school is extremely competitive, often requiring study beyond the school curriculum.
