Hi,
My name is Nic.

Since 2005 I have maintained a 100% success rate in getting students accepted to their selective school of choice.
I have been tutoring for more than 12 years and have worked with students from every school, every grade from K-12 and in almost every subject. However, this is now all I do – selective school test preparation.
The selective school exam is a very very hard exam – even for teachers and parents. It is designed to discriminate against even the strongest of students. And the hard part is that students get very little help preparing for it – their teachers are too busy to focus on it in class, and it can be difficult to find someone who really understands the exam and the requirements of it.
That has become my full time job. Every year up to 15000 students sit the exam, competing for just over 3000 positions in selective schools across NSW and I know exactly what students need to do to become one of those select few.
My one-on-one tutoring targets the unique needs of the student – so if they are strongest at maths but weakest at general ability, I will design the lessons to address this – to maximise productivity and reduce time wasted on content they don’t need.
I feel that my results speak for themselves, but I always start any tutoring relationship with a conversation with you, the parent, to ensure I am the tutor for the job. Once you have booked in your first session, the next step will be a phone call where we can talk about your child, their unique situation and how I can help them get in to their selective school of choice.

Getting a child in to a selective school is not an easy task, but one that will make a significant difference in their High School experience – and I would love to partner with you to make it happen.

Selective School Tutoring
ONE-ON-ONE COACHING THAT TARGETS THE UNIQUE NEEDS OF YOUR CHILD.
I offer online private tuition to students in years 3-6 that are aiming to get in to their local selective high school. All session take place via Skype or Google Hangouts and last an hour in length. Most tuition happens in the afternoons, before school or on Saturday mornings or Sunday afternoons.
I recommend a minimum of 12 sessions (allowing at least 3 sessions for each of the exam components) – and these can be taken once per week, or multiple per week if time is an issue. Beyond the 12 sessions it is entirely up to you – the longer we work together the more confidence your child will have in the exam and the more likely they are to succeed.
Whilst I have a 12 week program that I base my work off, I will ultimately tailor every session around what will best serve your child. We will ensure that every component of the exam is addressed and covered so they can go in to the exam knowing exactly what to expect and how to respond.
In the first session I will do an assessment, incorporating all parts of the exam to see where their strengths and weaknesses lie, and then reassess them every 6 weeks to monitor progress. Every week we will do vocabulary activities, 5 minutes of writing and an impromptu speech to get their mind in the zone.
Due to limited places, I give priority to older students. If I am at capacity, you will be added to my waiting list and contacted as soon as a space opens up.
Wait, but I don’t think my child will like online tutoring…
I know – face to face is much more natural. But if you think about how much time your child probably spends staring at a screen online or watching TV, digital relationships are far more natural to them than they are to us. I am yet to find a student who hasn’t enjoyed our online sessions – I make it seem like I am sitting next to them as much as possible; I use a digital whiteboard and will even ask them to hold up their notebook to the camera from time to time to check their working out. Technology allows us to do incredible things – and whilst it might not seem natural to us, for those who have never known a world without iPhones or Youtube, it is completely normal.
The first session comes with a complete satisfaction guarantee so if you or your child don’t think I am the best fit or that online lessons are right for your child there will be no charge for the lesson.
AN INVESTMENT IN TO YOUR CHILD’S FUTURE
Getting your child in to a selective high school will have a huge impact on the type of person they become in the future. Selective School students are self-motivated individuals that learn the value of hard work and independence. I have delivered seminars in every type of school, from elite private schools to low-income public schools, and it is always the selective school students that impress me most.
Sending your child to a selective school also has the potential to save you tens of (maybe even more than a hundred) thousands of dollars. Many of the families I’ve worked with had an expensive private school as the back up option if their child didn’t get in to a selective school. If you consider any of the elite private schools in Sydney, you are looking at 20-30k per year, so making a small investment to get them in to a selective school is a very small price to pay.
Finally, you need to consider that failing to get them a tutor just gives every other student who has one an advantage. A comprehensive preparation program is the most important thing leading up to the selective school exam – it cannot be something a student can pass on natural talent alone. If your child doesn’t have a tutor, they are disadvantaged against everyone else that does.
